Maurya India Cities - Civilization 7

I love ancient Indian architecture, so it was a dream creating all of the buildings for Maurya India in Civ7. Concepting, sculpting, and modelling these with a consistent design language and unique aesthetic inspired by historical Mauryan architecture was some of the most fun I had on the project. Originally Maurya was going to share its art with Persia due to time constraints, but that really bothered me and I didn't want to waste the chance to represent Maurya India authentically. I made some concept models and pitched them to Matthew Quickel, our Lead Environment artist, who I managed to hype up enough to let me concept and model out a whole set. Erik Bakker created the concepts for the Palace/Cityhall and Matha, and I concepted and created the rest of the buildings start to finish. I'm really proud of how this turned out, and this set will always be near and dear to my heart!
Hope you all enjoy! :)

A few of my favorite sculpts that I did for Maurya: a Sri Yantra Meru, a Lion Capital of Ashoka, and a royal elephant railing.
